The charms of the Opal Coast
The Opal Coast is a major tourist attraction in the Pas-de-Calais. This coastal region in northern France is mainly known for the Grand Site des 2 Caps (Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez). Two exceptional sites to enjoy breathtaking hikes on the white cliffs, from where you can occasionally observe some seals.
Boulogne-sur-Mer is surely one of the towns of the Opal Coast offering the strongest historical character. Stroll at random through the alleys of the old town or on the ramparts and fortifications of the historic center. Or visit the Notre-Dame basilica of Boulogne-sur-Mer which is located within the old walled town, as well as the castle of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
The Opal Coast at your fingertips from your Spa Hotel near Le Touquet
Apart from Le Touquet and Etaples-sur-Mer, there are many small towns to visit. Ambleteuse, for example, located just south of Audresselles (and an hour from your hotel in Le Touquet), where we find the fort d'Ambleteuse, built by Vauban in the 17th century.
Further north, near the Belgian border, Bray-Dunes is worth a detour for its small dunes by the sea. You will also appreciate the charming little town of Montreuil-sur-Mer. A fortified town which is located a good ten kilometers east of Le Touquet and Berck-sur-Mer.
